How deep is your love?

I am getting ready to move and it's finally hitting me.. there are things I wanted to do here, things I promised I would do, and still haven't. This weekend I did one of those things. I went for a hike in Lumpkin, GA at Providence Canyon.

Providence Canyon is called affectionately: "Georgia's Little Grand Canyon." Once I knew that little fact my curiosity wouldn't allow me to stay away.. I've been to the Grand Canyon some years back and it's created in me an aching ever since, to be in the presence of something so deliberately bigger than the life that I live. I decided to go alone on this hike to take time and reflect on the past 8 years I have lived here. In a small measure of my personal growth these past 8 years, tackling a solo hike is not something I would have done just a handful of years ago.

On my journey I came across a few cars that had been lift from an early settlement of the land. The tree/car combo below instantly made me think of roadblocks we come across in life. As long as we keep looking up, we'll find that we can overcome our obstacles.

If you haven't had a chance to take time and just be quiet, listening to all that is around you I encourage you to do so.

Keep all arms and legs inside the raft

Each year I want to do something EXTREMELY exciting for my birthday! Last year I packed my two best girlfriends into the car and we roadtripped up to Atlanta, then whitewater rafting in Ocoee, Tennessee and then hit up Chatanooga before heading home. It was one of the best celebrations ever (besides my surprise party when I was 7 and the birthday party at Wet-n-Wild when I was 12). So how on earth do I top that one? Do it again and invite their incredibly funny husbands!

We shared lots of jokes and boiled peanuts and constantly rotated who had to sit in the middle of the back seat to keep from getting too sore. Good times with great friends. What else could a birthday girl ask for?
